Megan Fox cleans up in SUBSERVIENCE

The new cautionary A.I. thriller, Subservience features Megan Fox as Alice - a synthetic robot that possesses the most advanced A.I. the world has ever seen. Alice can cook, clean, drop off and pick up your kids, help them with their homework and so much more. When Nick's (played by Michele Morrone) wife, Maggie, is hospitalized - he seeks an answer as to how he can continue to take care of their two small children while also working full-time as a high-profile construction project manager. Enter, the the most beautiful android ever known, Alice. Once she is settled into Nick and Maggie's home, her A.I. is reset, and upon rebooting, Alice is able to control certain safety measures and learning abilities to make her even more human-like. However, when she gets a little too close to Nick, both emotionally and physically, Alice becomes something much more than just a walking, talking Siri.

Megan Fox absolutely ate this role. She completely sold me on the cold, robotic nature of her character that evolves into a woman who is eerily trying to find her sexuality and her overall place within the family unit. The movie's thrills center on Alice's desire to support and protect her primary user who is Nick. Fox's cold, stale delivery on some pretty heinous acts were both campy fun and true horror all at the same time. She is able to balance the sexy playfulness of her character, while still providing some genuine scares.

Aside from Fox, there is not a lot to celebrate, however. The movie is quite absurd most of the time, but then again I was fully expecting that going in. It is essentially M3GAN, but insert an even more lifelike humanoid in Fox - no to mention WHAT WIFE on God's Earth would allow a robot that looks like Megan Fox live in their home with her husband while she is in the hospital???? The movie is unfortunately fairly predictable and aside from the campiness of Fox's portrayal, I could take it or leave it. I would say give it a watch due to the increasingly growing sub-genre of A.I. Horror. This is a pretty fun watch - thanks mostly to Megan Fox and the genuine silliness of it all.
